ASP 2020 Webinar series on “Improving safety of care in the COVID-19 Pandemic and afterwards”

General Announcement

The Pandemic associated with the novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) represented a major challenge to humankind in the 21st century. Society as a whole and individuals have been exposed to stressful and somehow unknown conditions whose final consequences are yet to be known.

Healthcare professionals and systems have been in the first line of the answer for this major challenge. Healthcare circuits and facilities have been redesigned, aiming at a separation of positive and negative SARS-CoV-2 patients.

Personal protective equipment and basic precautions of infection prevention and control were escalated, in order to reduce cross-contamination, including the protection of healthcare workers. New procedures are now adopted regarding surgery and procedures, allowing protection for both patients and healthcare professionals. Sterilization and sterile services were faced with new challenges.”
